sweet adventures in the kitchen
One resolution on my list for the New Year was to FINALLY learn to cook and bake. You know, really read the directions and follow them.. then eventually know how to inately make simple things like biscuits and embellish and improvise the recipes!... Yes, this will take many years, but my sweet adventures in the kitchen is the beginning!:)
The other night I had a tremendous craving for dessert. I wanted chocolate cake, lemon pie, strawberry shortcake, coconut gelato... SOMETHING! I opened my cupboards and could only find flour, sugar, cinnamon... and NO CHOCOLATE! So cookies were out of the picture :(... I settled on "alison's famous cinnamon rolls". Why you ask are they called "alison's famous cinnamon rolls"? Well, because back in the days of long summers and elementary school, Alison and I (mainly Alison, if we wanted them to turn out edible) would make gigantic butter and sugar filled cinnamon rolls. By the end of those very long summers we probably made them atleast once a week!... Here is the receipe and photos of my adventure!
first make biscuit dough and spread it out onto a cookie sheet with flour on the bottom
biscuit receipe: 2 cups flour, 4 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 1/2 table spoon vegan butter, 3/4 cup almond milk
melt some butter and spread over the flat dough
spread a generous amount of sugar over the butter
shake cinnamon over the sugar
sprinkle more sugar over the cinnamon
start to roll the dough and spread warm butter all over each time you roll
cut the roll and place on the baking sheet (you can sprinkle more cinnamon and sugar over the top if you desire)
bake at 350 degrees untill soft (about 15 mins)
eat as many as you like, you desire it after all that hard work! :)
have a sweet day and enjoy your pondering!
