swell tunes- music that spreads a bit of blithe and bliss
On my journey home down the 101 fwy this weekend I caught the latest episode of OFF RAMP with John Rabe. As most of you know... I am an NPR nerd and love listening to the weekend programing..I always try to catch "this american life" and Off Ramp. Off Ramp offers fun short looks into the happenings of Los Angeles and Southern California.. I have gained AWESOME restaurant recommendations from EAT LA and heard fun little interviews with locals about very random things.. like a neat story about a man in Sierra Madre who has built a hole under his house??... I know you've heard that one.. and then there's the most recent story about the importance of the ceremony scissors.. SEE?... Interesting right? Well, anyways, you just have to check it out yourself at Off Ramp... ANYWAYS... My point of even bring this up was to share with you two bands I discovered through listening to the show this weekend! Ann Powers talked about this whole "indie folk rock" revival thing going on and about: "The Head and the Heart"- have two new releases: "Cats and Dogs" and "Sounds like Halleluajah"...and "The Belle Brigade" : 'Fasten you to me' and 'Losers'... Anyways.. I just thought I'd share because listening to these songs gave me a bit of blithe and bliss on that LONG LONG drive on the 101 fwy...;) enjoy!
Hope you enjoyed the tunes:) Have a swell day and enjoy your pondering!
